Entertainment in Mount Vernon
Golf-
There are golf courses surrounding the residential communities and some on the out skirts of town. With the mild Western Washington climate, there are many veteran golfers who play almost every day. There are two golf courses in Mount Vernon and another 10 courses within 20 miles. The oldest course in the Mount Vernon area is the Skagit Golf and Country Club. The longest course is Eaglemont.
Theater-
The Historic Lincoln Theatre on First Street in downtown Mount Vernon was originally built in 1926 as a silent movie house. The Lincoln now hosts live theatrical performances and concerts while also showcasing classic, as well as contemporary, movies year-round.
The Mcintyre Hall sits at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in affiliation with Skagit Valley College. Theatrical performances are put on by programs in the community including the Fidalgo Youth Symphony, Mount Vernon School District, Pacific Northwest Opera, Skagit Symphony, Skagit Academy of Dance, Skagit Valley Chorale, and the Skagit Valley College. The theatre started with the largest individual gift ever made to our state’s community college system by Jack and Shirley Mcintyre.
Parks and Trails-

Little Mountain Park – is a forested area with ten miles of hiking and biking trails and valley views from two observation platforms
Skagit River Walk Park – is a 1.5-mile trail next to the Skagit River, that connects downtown and the Kilshan Trail open for walking, running, and biking.
Edgewater Park – 54 acres on the Skagit River featuring a boat launch, playground, and ball fields. Used for several community events throughout the year
Hillcrest Park – a 31-acre park featuring picnic shelters, playgrounds, baseball and soccer fields, and tennis courts.
Retail in Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon is the major retail hub in Skagit Valley offering lots of shopping, major retail chains, coffee shops, a movie theater, and farm stores along the I-5 corridor.
In the historic downtown, you will find a variety of antique stores, gift shops, galleries, bookstores, salons, spas, and boutiques. You can even visit a local chocolate artisan, Forte' Chocolate, to watch them make their award-winning caramels, truffles, and chocolate bars and of course try some.
Christianson’s Nursery – is the largest retail nursery in Skagit County and has an enticing selection of common and uncommon plants. They boast the largest selection of roses, perennials, and trees in Northwest Washington. You can browse the many greenhouses, the Schoolhouse that was built in 1888, and antiques in the gift shop as well as join the many events they offer throughout the year. Christianson’s is a Skagit Valley People’s Choice Award Winner and a very popular place for photography of weddings, school dances, and Senior Class photos. They are open daily from 9 am-6 pm.
Roozengaarde – is an official sponsor of the yearly Skagit Valley Tulip Festival with1,000 acres of flowers planted, sixteen acres of greenhouses, and spectacular display gardens. Famously known for the tulips they also offer flowers and many types of bulbs throughout the year.
Tulip Town– is a major bulb grower in the valley contributing to the awe and beauty of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. In addition to tulips, they grow crocus, daffodils, narcissus, hyacinth, lily, and peony bulbs. In October they host “The Harvest” pumpkin patch and all-weather pumpkin market, corn maze, tractor rides, treats, and drinks for young and old.
