Just minutes off I-5 and almost equal distance between Seattle and the Canadian border, La Conner in the Skagit Valley, is a beautiful, historic seaside village of about 1,000 residents. It is located on the banks of the Swinomish Channel boasting a vibrant downtown that sits on the waterfront offering many options for shopping, antiques, wine tasting, bakeries, ice cream shops, specialty stores, boutiques, and local museums.  If you like world-class cuisine, La Conner has a wide array of dining options with many of the restaurants offering al fresco dining, right on the Channel.

La Conner is a bustling small town with a community center, several churches, a regional library, a fire department, schools, and a robust volunteer culture. For a small town, it provides a charming, relaxed environment with an incredible amount of convenience nearby.  Within a fifteen-mile radius, you can attend Skagit Valley College, see a movie, or visit your favorite major stores. Many of the historic homes in La Conner have remained unchanged over the years which adds to the charm of the city that has a beautiful Downtown National Historic District. La Conner is the kind of community that many of us yearn for; charming, picturesque, small, and serene, with a vibrancy all its own. Located within easy walking distance of the main street in town, the marina is a clean, service-oriented facility that tourists and residents alike enjoy visiting. If you love the water, La Conner offers easy access to the beautiful San Juan Islands.

Retail Shops and Museums in La Conner

La Conner is a real treat for shoppers and museum enthusiasts.  There are too many to list, but we have included some of our favorites:

Amaryllis- Offers a unique mix of women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories. 

Jennings Yarn and Needlecrafts- A unique yarn shop specializing in quality natural fibers and designer yarns in addition to cross-stitch, needlepoint, and other gift items for that crafter in your life.

Museum of Northwest Arts- MoNa collects, preserves, interprets and exhibits contemporary art created in the Pacific Northwest.  They also have a great gift shop at the entrance for anyone visiting La Conner.

The Pioneer Market- The local general store that carries all your grocery needs in addition to, local flowers, brews, and produce.  There is even a small cafe connected to the market.
